List rooms and accessible surfaces
Start with reception, work areas, meeting rooms, kitchens, washrooms and corridors. For each space, identify the surfaces and floor types to be maintained. Record locked rooms, restricted access and items that should not be touched. This creates a task list a provider can quote against rather than a vague instruction to keep the premises presentable.
Set desk and equipment boundaries
Ask staff to clear surfaces agreed for cleaning and decide how personal belongings and confidential documents will be handled. IT equipment needs its own care instructions and should not be assumed to be included in ordinary desk wiping. Specify whether the cleaner may move items or should leave an occupied desk untouched. A clear boundary protects both work and expectations.
Define shared-kitchen and washroom work
Agree sinks, worktops, accessible fittings, floors and bins. Cupboard interiors, appliance interiors and restocking consumables may be separate tasks. Decide who orders supplies and checks stock. A shared kitchen is not automatically a commercial catering-cleaning job; premises with specialist requirements need an appropriate brief and confirmation of capability.
Write exclusions and periodic jobs down
Include any agreed periodic carpet cleaning, reachable detail work or extra rooms, and identify tasks outside the routine. Specialist access, waste streams and technical equipment should be discussed separately. Floor cleaning must fit safe access arrangements; use workplace guidance and the relevant assessment rather than treating a wet-floor sign as the whole plan.
Use a simple quality review
Check against the same list after visits and record a specific concern rather than saying the office feels unclean. Note the room, task and date, then agree how communication will work. Lemon Squeezy can discuss commercial cleaning in Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire; send your postcode, floor area and draft checklist to confirm coverage and a suitable scope.

Common questions
Does office cleaning include keyboards and computer screens?
Only if agreed and appropriate care instructions are in place. Do not assume IT equipment is part of routine surface cleaning.
Are consumables included in the cleaning price?
Ask who supplies and restocks them; arrangements differ between providers.
